Szeged Vocational and Primary School of Industry and Services
Szeged Vocational and Primary School of Industry and Services was established on 1 July 2009 by the merger of three schools: Déri Miksa Technical Secondary School of Industry, József Attila Primary and Vocational School and Szeged-Móravárosi Technical and Vocational Secondary School. As we are one of the largest vocational organisations in Szeged, students can choose from 140 trades in 11 trade sectors, such as engineering, electrical engineering, building industry, chemical industry, other services, printing, timber industry, arts, light industry, agriculture and information science, according to the current needs of the labour market. We had 2541 students and 308 employees during the 2009/2010 school term. 264 of our employees work full-time and 44 of them part-time.
The sub-institutions of our school satisfy the needs of everyone who is interested in getting either the General Certificate of Secondary Education or a trade certificate. Students have the opportunity to attend extra curricular activities like sports classes in fully-equipped gyms, healthcare classes, autognostic trainings and workshops, private coaching and streamed classes. We also work with a therapist and pay extra attention to students with special needs or learning disabilities with our special education teacher staff.
Our main principle is to train skilled workers who want to refresh their knowledge regularly, who are open, and appreciate and respect their fellow-beings. Thus our aim is to educate young people with the ability and motivation to learn life-long and become adults capable of using their knowledge in practice. To reach this goal, we provide education that is open to changes and we place students in the centre of our work.
During the training we put special emphasis on students’ gaining general knowledge, preparing them for school leaving or vocational examinations, making them ready to start their adult life, and passing on values. We form habits and attitudes that help them fit in with society, build a constructive way of life and that have positive effect on students’ personality, academic achievement, future, families and social environment as well.
The theoretical and practical education take place in modern laboratories, classrooms and workshops, but after basic training students are given the chance to join local entrepreneurs and experience real-life situations.
